These pages are static. The hosting layer records a truncated client address, the requested path and a timestamp, retained for 14 days and used to investigate availability problems. No cookies are set, no analytics are embedded and no fonts or scripts are loaded from a third party that would receive your address.
There is no analytics script, no advertising network, no embedded third-party font and no newsletter. Reading a piece here produces one log entry at the hosting layer and nothing else. We do not know how many people finished an article and we are comfortable with that.
Letters and pitches are kept for as long as the conversation is live and then destroyed. Author contact details are retained while the piece is online, because readers write to authors and that is the point.
Questions about data processing go to the postal address above. We answer in writing.
